Fix You was a nicely paced read with likable characters.  Both Kelly and Andrew have pasts that have them struggling to overcome.  Anderson does a great job with how their relationship develops.  I enjoyed this sweet read that had me feeling a range of emotions.

Beck Anderson loves to write about love and its power to heal and grow people past their many imperfections. She is a firm believer in the phrase “mistakes are for learning” and uses it frequently to guide her in writing life and real life.

Beck balances (clumsily at best) writing novels and screenplays, working full-time as an educator, mothering two pre-teen males, loving one post-40 husband, and making time to walk the foothills of Boise, Idaho, with Stefano DiMera Delfino Anderson, the suavest Chihuahua north of the border.

My jaw practically hits the table.

The chocolate crêpe!

I can’t believe it.

Harnessing all of my willpower, I fight the sudden inclination I have to leap around the table and jump onto his lap. I always tell people I prefer dessert before a meal, but never has anyone taken me seriously.

Never.

Tension coils deep in my belly. Lust flows through my veins running faster and faster with each passing second. I look over at him and as soon as I see his face, I can feel myself coming unhinged. Urges I can’t deny surface. The need to know the taste of his lips, to feel his hard body,

to be able to lick the chocolate he just ordered off his chest, and to slide my tongue down his stomach so I can taste him.

Looking thoughtful, his return gaze slowly changes to one of concern. “Have you stopped planning for your future because you don’t think you have one?” he asks softly.

Remnants of our conversation must have been lingering in his mind. Slamming my eyes shut, all of the erotic images I had conjured up immediately disappear as I fight to breathe.

Suddenly the air becomes thick in my lungs and I can’t get it out. I take deep calming breaths. As the haze around me dissipates and I fight off the panic attack, I hear a fumbling in front of me. I force myself to lift my lids. Nate is attempting to open my clutch. “What are you doing?”

“Trying to get you your inhaler.” Panic seems to drown out the deep green of his eyes.

I push to my feet and give him a disbelieving look. “I’m not having an asthma attack.”

“You’re not?” He sounds uncertain.

Shaking my head, I set my napkin on the table. “Excuse me, I have to use the ladies room.” I walk inside the restaurant, realizing I have no idea where I’m going. Looking around, I find the bathrooms immediately.

Just as I pull the door open, a hand covers mine. “You’re upset.”

I drop my head. “No, I’m fine.”

Fierceness grips his voice. “You’re lying.”

Summoning all of my willpower, I raise my eyes.

Nate lifts my chin. “You didn’t let me finish. I’m trying to understand you. I want to know why, if you believe in destiny, you’d change your path. Why wouldn’t you do what you had always planned on doing? Why change your course? Personally, I think destiny is bullshit. I also think not pursuing your dream is bullshit too.”

Caged by his body, his scent, his presence, I look up into his burning eyes and I can see compassion there. I believe he wants what’s best for me. If I think I know him through my brother, he thinks he knows me through my brother as well. And Zach wanted me to continue my education. His dream was that someday I’d be Dr. Zoey Flowers. Nate knows this.

“Zoey?” Nate’s voice is questioning. Low. Maybe even slightly fearful.

“Nate”—I press my finger to his lips—“I think I need to tell you something about myself.”

“What?” he asks.

In all our e-mails after my brother’s death, I never mentioned the real reason for my delay in coming to Miami. I keep my eyes open even though I want to close them. “I had a breakdown shortly after Zach died. I took a leave from my job. I couldn’t get out of bed. I couldn’t plan one day, let alone the next. And somewhere during that time, I let any plans I had for the future fall to the wayside. I don’t know what I want anymore.”

Shock appears on his face. “Why didn’t you tell me in any of our e-mails?”

The truth is hard to admit. “I actually looked forward to your weekly e-mails. But I did lie to you. It wasn’t work that kept me from coming to get my brother’s things. It was me and my inability to cope.”

Nate stares down at me.

My entire focus is on him. “Don’t think I’m crazy. I’m not. Really, I’m not.”

His gaze continues to pin me in a way that makes me think he understands me.

It holds me in place. Keeps me calm.

“Zoey, God, I don’t think that at all,” he breathes. “I can understand how that would happen.

With everything coming at you at once, and the shock of Z’s death, coupled with the revelations about your family, it was just too much. I get it.”

I just stare at his lips, longing to kiss him. My body is filled with so many wants and needs, and all these new urges I’ve never felt before.

And all I want is just for him to set me free.

Kim Karr took me on a great getaway to Florida with The 27 Club.  I’m not sure what I expected after reading the blurb.  But this was a wonderful way to pass the weekend.  She does a wonderful job capturing the feel of Miami, South Beach and those Florida storms.

I enjoyed the characters that we meet in The 27 Club.  From the beginning, I was turning the pages to know more about Zach.  And then with the instant connection between Nate and Zoey, I was anxiously reading to know what each would do next.  There was a depth to Nate and Zoey that kept me interested in learning everything.

The 27 Club is my first foray with Kim Karr.  I can’t wait to check out other titles.  With her descriptive setting and character development, I’m sure not to be disappointed.

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I’ve always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

Losing at Love is a great getaway filled with tennis and characters to remember.  I enjoyed this story of three friends and their experiences while living the tennis life.

Iacopelli provides wonderful descriptions that will have the reader feeling at home courtside of a tennis match.  She delivers on well developed characters that have you wanting to know more about their lives.  Losing at Love was my first of her books but I’ve already picked up Game Set Match to read next.

Chasing Desire is a great quick read.  From the first page to the last, I couldn’t put this book down.  I loved that Autumn was a strong, independent woman.  And that she meets her match in Huck.  Putting them together was brilliant and I loved every moment.

I’ll picking up more to read by Joya Ryan.  She didn’t disappoint, delivering a sweet and hot romance that pulls you in and leaving you with a smile when you finish.

The Way We Fall pulled on so many emotions.  The story is full of angst, heartache and chemistry.  I loved that the reader gets the story in both POVs and that Leo provides some flashbacks in the story.

Houston and Rory have run into each other years after their breakup and there is no questioning that there is something unresolved between them.

My only disappointment was that I have to wait for the sequel for the rest of their story.

I enjoyed Boomerang and was looking forward to Rebound.  No disappointment with this read.

There is no denying the chemistry between Alison and Adam.  When they realize just who the other is, the reader is treated to the expected fight against the undeniable attraction.  Ali and Adam bring out the sexy, drama, sad and feel good.

The author provides well developed characters that are believable and empathetic.  I enjoyed catching up with old characters and the introduction to new characters.

This was my first book by Aly Martinez but not the last. I loved that Martinez gives readers characters that are living life, struggling and succeeding.

I loved the dynamic between Till and Eliza. I couldn’t help but root for them, I wanted to know what was going to happen next.

Fighting Silence delivers a great read and will have readers invested wonderfully real characters. I would love to see something more about Till’s brothers, Finn and Quarry.

Caught Up in You is the first Colee Firman for me.  And it was a wonderful introduction to a new to me author.

I was intrigued by the description and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen between Brantley and Myles.  The dual point of view allows the reader to get to know both characters and keeps them relatable or at least provides some understanding.  I’m not usually a fan of a read that keeps my frustration level high but this story really worked for me.

Brantley and Myles both have pasts that keep a grip on their present.  Brantley keeps secrets and isn’t one to share.  Myles also has a past filled with mistakes that he can’t escape.  Putting the two of them together, you can’t help but wonder which is going to share themselves first and what will happen next.

Firman keeps the reader turning the pages with unexpected twists and wounded characters that will have you rooting for them.  Caught Up in You hits the mark with steamy moments, character growth, periods of angst and sweet touches.

Heartsick is a refreshing addition to the New Adult genre.  Awesome writing gives life to memorable characters with a mystery that keeps the pages turning.

Set in a small college town in Virginia, Heartsick, delivers on those small town feelings and experiences along with familiar college problems and issues.  Living in a small college town, this was very relatable.  Sinead gives readers characters that are at once familiar and fresh.  The suspense in the mystery kept my interest and kept me guessing.

I can’t wait to read whatever is next from Caitlin Sinead.
